Guardian Inkjet Optimized Water Color Paper

• Optimized inkjet coating. This coating helps to produce deep, dark blacks and vibrant, saturated colors. The coating is designed to work with virtually all inksets, especially dye and pigment based archival inks. (The coating currently performs less desirably with the Epson OEM 6-color inks.)
• 100% cotton rag fibre. Cotton is the most permanent fibre (99% Alpha Cellulose). Cotton contains no lignin.
• Smooth vellum surface.
• 250gsm or 120 lb. weight, 16mil sheet thickness.
• Substantial feel and "heft". The paper has been internally and externally sized to provide a greater degree of stiffness and to maintain its archival quality. This paper "feels" thicker (like a 19mil) than it is (actually 16mil) -- giving you a greater feeling of value, yet allowing you much easier feeding in your printer because of its reduced thickness -- despite having a sheet of its substantial weight.
• Natural white base. Unlike some whiter sheets, this sheet base should not surprise you or your customers by yellowing at a later date.
• Economical. Guardian is substantially less expensive than other coated water color papers.
• Calcium Carbonate buffered. A minimum of 3% calcium carbonate is used to buffer the paper to a pH of 8.5. Our surrounding environment is mildly acidic. Carbon dioxide in our atmosphere will cause paper to become more acidic, even if it is originally made to a neutral pH (7.0). Therefore, the Guardian sheet has an alkaline reserve "buffering agent" added to defend against environmental acids. (Mounting boards used by the U.S. Library of Congress have this buffering requirement, as do other conservation institutions.)
