Print Output Examples on Somerset Velvet
(using our advanced printer settings)
The following images were printed on an Epson Stylus Color 3000, using Epson OEM inks, then gang scanned on a Umax Powerlook 3000:
As you can see, coated watercolor papers like Somerset Photo Enhanced can give you almost everything that is in your image (tonal range, saturated colors and sharpness), plus the beautiful texture, weight and feel of a fine art paper. (Similar results are obtainable from Lumijet's "Classic Velour": and Lysonic Media's "Standard Fine Art" watercolor papers.) NOTE: All of these images may appear dark (especially the right two images) if you are not using a Macintosh monitor or a calibrated monitor for a PC.
But don't dismiss the old non-coated water color papers now that the "new kids" are here. These old standbys, like Somerset Velvet Radiant White, have a certain softness (instead of a photo-crispness in the coated versions) that gives the image more of a "painterly" feel. And isn't this one of the reasons an artist chooses a watercolor paper in the first place?
The above copyrighted image (Bridger Wilderness, Wyoming) was taken by Scott Smith of Logan, Utah. An uncropped version is available from The Stock Solution stock photo agency.
