Comparisons shown at 17X magnification

A comparison of Epson inkjet technologies, and how they differ in print quality.

Type "1" printers
i.e. the ESC 800, 1520 and 3000
Type "2" printers
(ESC 900 used in this example)
Type "3" printers
i.e. the Photo 700 and Photo EX
Type "4" printers
i.e. the Photo 750 and Photo 1200
(Type '1' image)(Type '2' image)(Type '3' image)(Type '4' image)
Epson's oldest micro-dot technology looks pretty coarse next to these other 3 types, but it's still much better than what other printer companies offer!4 ink colors with variable-dot technology (down to 3 picolitres) produces an extremely crisp and sharp dot pattern. This 6-color technology looks softer than the ESC 900 dot pattern, but that is due to two additional, lighter and more translucent inks (an slightly bigger dots). The 2 extra colors help to produce smoother tonal transitions and greater color gamut. The newest 6-color technology combined with variable-dot, produces even smoother tonal transitions. The variable-dot and 2 lighter inks give an even softer dot pattern at this magnification.
