You've probably noticed a change in the look of our web site. For the most part what you've been seeing the last week or so is just a minor color scheme modification. The big change is what's "under the hood" in the shopping cart! For the last year or more we've been running into features that we wanted to add to our shopping cart that simply weren't possible with the current ecommerce engine. We wanted to have real coupon codes which would simplify your orders, and still track the number of uses. We also wanted timed specials and Gift Certificates, and the ability to use PayPal. We wanted better international support and more accurate shipping costs. Finally, we wanted it to react faster to changes in products.
We got it all and more!
The new color scheme on the current pages will make it easier to tie the content pages of our site (newsletters, forum and informative articles) to the new shopping cart. You'll find that a few things in the new shopping cart are different from the old one (the categories navigation links on the left are new) but if you've shopped on the Internet you'll be familiar with most of what's going on without needing help. But in case you do need help or there's a suggestion on how to improve something we would LOVE to hear from you! Email us, use the contact form on our site or just call.
Currently we still have both shopping cart systems in place but in a week or so we plan to only have the new one. For clarification, the new cart is a live system and we will charge and ship out any order placed on it. All of the user accounts in the old shopping cart (up until a week ago) have been copied over to the new system. The new cart uses your email address as the account login and the existing passwords have been transferred also, but in case you've forgotten what you were using, there's an easy password reset link that emails you a new one.

NEW MOAB BRAND MEDIA YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED BUT SHOULDN'T
Moab Paper has recently introduced their new line of Moenkopi papers. Moenkopi is a line of traditional Japanese Washi designed and coated for digital photographers and artists. Washi is literally ''Japanese Paper'' and has been part of the Japanese tradition for over 14 centuries. Unlike many pulp papers, Washi is made from sustainable and environmentally friendly fibers like Kozo (mulberry) and Hemp.
All three of the Moenkopi papers incorporate the use of Kozo fibers. These fibers are harvested from live shrubs which continue to grow and produce after the harvest. This method of paper making is the most environmentally responsible today and was a driving force for the introduction of the Moenkopi line. Going one step further, the line incorporates a 100% handmade sheet, Bizan, which utilizes the power of the sun to dry the sheet. Drying paper is traditionally the most energy intensive process in papermaking because of the large continuous heat ovens required.
Moab also introduced the Anasazi canvas quite some time ago, and is worth mentioning again - it's an exceptional matte canvas designed for pigmented inks. It is a 35/65 cotton/poly blend, 19 mils, 350gsm.
HAHNEMUHLE RELEASES NEW BAMBOO ART AND CANVAS MEDIA
Moab isn't the only one getting in on renewable source media, Hahnemuhle recently introduced their new Bamboo fine-art media. Straight from their press release: "The oldest German art paper mill has succeeded in developing a premium, soft Fine Art paper from ultra-pure bamboo fibres and pure spring water. This paper opens up a whole new artistic and spiritual dimension in Fine Art printing. In addition to its classy feel and elegant appearance, 'Bamboo 290' possesses the image quality associated with Hahnemuhle, achieved through its wide color gamut, extreme color density and sharpness as well as good contrast. The papers natural basic tone makes it ideal for fine art prints with a warm hue."
Hahnemuhle recently announced the addition of canvas to its Digital FineArt collection. The addition of canvas will benefit both artists and photographers alike. Daguerre Canvas 400gsm is a specially coated artist canvas made of poly-cotton with a tactile surface texture which makes it perfect for fine art photo printing. Its bright-white color provides clear, fresh color and contrasts for black and white reproductions. Monet Canvas 410gsm is a genuine artist canvas made of 100% cotton with a special coating that is ideal for fine art printing. Its white point is perfect for art reproduction, but also works well for high quality photo printing. This canvas offers detailed color and grey tones, as well as optimal depth to your print. When the canvas was previewed at PMA 2008 in Las Vegas, the response from those who saw the samples was overwhelmingly positive! It will come in 17", 24", 36", 44" and 60" rolls, as well as A3 size 20 sheet boxes, packaged in a new white box.
