EPSON'S "NEW" PREMIUM GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER HAVING PROBLEMS!
Epson's Premium Glossy Photo Paper (PGPP) was introduced in March 2000 with the Epson 1270 printer and it's lightfast ink. The paper was supposed to give 9-10 years of longevity with the 1270 inks. By late Spring 2000 Epson was getting reports of cyan dye fading (causing the PGPP prints to go red/orange), due to oxidation by high levels of ozone gas in certain atmospheric conditions. By mid-August, Epson quit making PGPP, and planned to introduce a new version (by October 15) of PGPP with an anti-oxidant. The introduction of PGPP version #2 was delayed until November 7th, with many anxious customers not getting the paper until late November.
Last week, shortly after the release of PGPP version #2, Epson began calling customers (who had purchased though Epson's on-line store) and telling them to throw away the new version they'd just received, and Epson would send a refund check. High-level officials at Epson are telling us that a few batches of PGPP version #2 were defective (there was too much anti-oxidant in the coating, causing white, powdery specks to appear in the darkest printed areas). Epson plans to come out with PGPP version #3 by mid to late December. To LEARN MORE about the history of PGPP and the precautions to take when using it, go to:
Unfortunately, no one at Epson is revealing which batches of the new PGPP version #2 have too much anti-oxidant. Epson is recalling all of this paper that was purchased through their on-line store, yet they have made no recall announcements through their retail dealers. We suggest that you purchase any PGPP version #2 at your own risk. If it is defective, we can help you obtain a refund from Epson (if you purchased it from us). Version #2 is identified by having the word "Revolutionary" on the package. If you just have to have PGPP, we currently have some stock of version #2 in the 8.5"x11" and 11"x17" sizes. We also have version #1 in the 13"x19" and 4" roll sizes. Go to:
LUMINOS "ULTRA GLOSS" - AN ALTERNATIVE TO EPSON'S PGPP
Many people liked the high gloss of Epson's Premium Glossy Photo Paper (PGPP), and are seeking an alternative, at least until Epson works out the bugs in PGPP. Luminos' Lumijet Portfolio Series "Ultra Gloss" paper has been filling this void for many of our clients. Like the PGPP, it too has a micro-porous coating and an RC (polyethylene) barrier that allows one to really lay on heavy ink coverage without causing waves in the paper or "cockling". All the papers in this series are compatible with both the Epson 1270 (and earlier Epson inkjet printers) and the Epson 2000P. To LEARN MORE, go to:
$ .99 each, while supplies last! We just purchased another pallet (3600) of Kodak Gold Ultima Recordable CD's at an incredibly low price. In August, we purchased our first pallet promotion from Kodak and was able to drop from our normal price of $2.18 each to $1.49. Kodak has lowered their price again on another pallet promotion, so we're passing the savings on to you. Although you can buy cheaper CD's, you won't find a better and safer CD-R, anywhere. Go ahead and use the "cheap-o" CD's for sending files to your clients, but use the Kodak Gold CD-R's to archive your important digital work! Kodak uses 100% real gold for their reflective layer (not the "gold" coloring some competitors use for appearance's sake)! And Kodak Gold discs offers 12 times the longevity of silver-only discs! Kodak also uses a stable dye layer. Other dyes can fade with exposure to sunlight or florescent lights, leaving your discs unreadable. LEARN MORE at:
WHY InkJetART NOW CARRIES THE EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 1270 PRINTER ...
We've held off carrying this printer, but so many of our customers have asked us to supply the 1270. While the Epson 2000P is your best choice for super long-lasting prints (100 to 200 years), the 1270's 24-26 years of longevity (with Epson Matte Paper Heavy Weight and even longer with non-coated acid-free watercolor papers) is sufficient for many of you. (Epson's Photo Paper is rates at 6-7 years with the 1270 inks -- an Epson alternative to the problematic PGPP.) Additionally, the 1270 has greater color brilliance and is easier to print on more types of papers (without the problems of metamorism) than the 2000P. While many dealers are still selling the 1270 at $499, InkJetART is at $485.00, and shipping is FREE. Go to:
