Glamour II Veneer coating for prints
Go back to Glamour II Home Page
NOTE: UNLESS SURFACE IS PROTECTED, DO NOT STACK YOUR PRINTS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN COATED.
When you are finished using Glamour II Veneer, please make sure that you properly seal the air-tight container.
Application Instructions
Materials needed
- Sponge roller - any cheap sponge roller with replaceable sponges will work. It is best to find a sponge that is 1/4 to 1/2 an inch thick. We highly recommend using a RollerFoam Roller with rounded corners. These can be purchased from inkjetart and/or any major hardware store.
- Tray - any paint tray large enough to fit your sponge roller will work.

Application Instructions
Instructions for Photographic Matte Paper
- Pour Glamour into a tray. Note: Pour it only on one side of the tray, leaving 3/4 of the tray untouched.
- Dilute the varnish by 10 to 20 percent with water. This is optional, but it is recommended if you are coating prints larger than 20"x 20". If you do add water, be sure to mix the water and Glamour generously before use.
- Gently dip your sponge roller into the varnish, just enough to get the outer surface of the sponge coated. Slowly rotate the sponge and dip to get other sides of the sponge exposed to Glamour.
- Roll the sponge roller on the untouched part of the tray. Do this enough times to spread Glamour evenly throughout the whole surface of the sponge. This will also allow Glamour to penetrate under the surface of the sponge.
- Lay your print down onto a "clean", flat surface. Dust off any debris or particles off the surface of your print.
- Most Photo Matte papers are fairly thin. Therefore, it is ideal to have a very thin coat. This may be a little harder to achieve. That is why you should have a very small amount of Glamour on your roller when coating any paper less than 250 gsm.
- Take your roller and start from one corner of the print or image. Press firmly and roll in one direction. Roll throughout the print to make sure all areas are coated. You may need enough lighting and a slight angle view to make sure all areas are in fact coated.
- It is sometimes necessary to roll continuously to make sure all areas are covered. You may also rewet your sponge by dipping into the Glamour again, in the same manner as specified above.
- After you have made sure that all of the holes of the paper have been filled and coated, use only the weight of the roller to revisit the whole print. This will take off any excess varnish that may make the coat seem uneven. Still roll in one direction but gradually move towards other areas without lifting your sponge.
- You may repeat this step as many times as you need to even out the coating within 5-8 minutes after the coating has been laid on.
- Set print aside to dry for 30-40 minutes.
Instructions for Fine Art Paper

Recommended Mixtures
Please note that the following mixture recommendations are rough estimates. When we recommend adding 1/3 water to a mixture, for example. Absolute precision of your actual measurements are not critical. Adding 25% water or 40% water when 33% is recommended will not noticeably effect the outcome. The formulas you see below are merely suggestions that other users have had success with.
Glamour II Veneer was designed to encourage creative experimentation and freedom so that every artist/printmaker can capture the true essence of every unique piece of art.
- If you prefer a matte look and feel, simply use our Matte Glamour II Veneer according to our above instructions. Doing this will NOT shift color or ehnace density. It merely serves to provide a highly protective surface for your prints.
- If you prefer a matte look and feel, but still want to slightly enhance the color and black density, we recommend adding a portion of Gloss Glamour II Veneer to your Matte Glamour II Veneer. Here is a suggested ratio: 70% Matte, 30% Gloss. Then add roughly 1/3 Water.
- If you prefer a satin (semi-matte) look and feel we recommend the following combination: 30% Matte, 70% Gloss. Then add roughly 1/3 water.
