Artcare
Conservation Quality At Its Finest
Since its introduction in 1995, ARTCARE has raised the standard of museum quality framing to a level of excellence unparalleled in the art world, with mat and mountboards that actively protect artwork from the damaging effects of pollution, paper degradation and the by-products of the art's own aging. This is something no other conservation product can do - because no other matboard contains exclusive MicroChamber® Technology.
Professional Testimonial by Dr. Peter G. Sparks, Preservation Consultant and Former Director for Preservation, Library of Congress.
MicroChamber® Technology. How does it work in protecting fine art? Here are some articles that will explain:

The Artcare Archival System:
An Envelope of Active Protection
The Artcare Archival System is ideal for all kinds of framing, including original works of art, limited-edition prints, photography, heirloom pieces, newsprint, historical documents, needle art, decorative art, posters and graphics, gallery and exhibit framing and anything that would benefit from long-term preservation.
All Artcare products feature MicroChamber technology, for active protection against air pollution, paper degradation and the by-products of the art's own aging - something no other museum quality board can do!

Complete Product Line. Currently, InkjetART is focusing only on the "mountboard" portion of the system. At the moment, we are supplying only the Alphamount Artcare Foamboard (see why below). For additional information on all parts of the Artcare Archival System, please go here:

Artcare Archival Foamboard
Created especially for framing, Archival Foamboard delivers two sided Artcare protection that outperforms all other acid-free foamboards, actively protecting mounted artwork from damaging pollutants and harmful gases. All this plus lightweight rigidity, easy cutability, excellent pressure memory and smooth mounting surfaces.

InkjetART has chosen to supply at the moment only the Alphamount Artcare Foamboard in the 3/16" thickness, for several reasons:
- Most useful component of the system. We believe the Artcare Foamboard is the most important and useful component of the Artcare Archival System, because it provides the best barrier against airborne pollutants attacking the back of the art print or canvas.
- Less expensive. The Alphamount Artcare Foamboard is about 40% less expensive than the 100% Alpharag Artcare Foamboard.
- Same strength and longevity. In the opinion of conservation scientists, Alpharag is no better than the alpha cellulose fibers in Alphamount when it comes to strength and longevity. The paper industry standards for permanence require the use of alpha cellulose fiber. Cotton rag and purified wood papers are both made from alpha cellulose fibers, which are the longest and strongest fibers used in paper making.
- More rigidity for the same price. The 3/16" thick foamboard is the same price as the thinner, 1/8" foamboard, so why carry both?
- Smoother mounting surface. The Alphamount Artcare Foamboard has a much smoother mounting surface than the 100% Alpharag Artcare Foamboard.
Dry Mount Tissue
We recommend and carry SAFEMOUNT by Print Mount, and BUFFERMOUNT by Seal. Both dry mount tissues are "archival grade", specially formulated, buffered paper tissue coated on both sides with "low temperature" reversible adhesive. Both provide a safe bond that will not attack delicate items such as fine art photographs or giclée (inkjet) prints, silk, tissue and rice papers.
 | Dry Mount Presses
The Seal mechanical dry mount presses (160, 210 and 550) will work for those on a budget or those with smaller mounting needs, but those who want the best - we recommend the Print Mount Vacuum Heat Press. The Print Mount HS44 (44" x 34") is being discontinued due to lack of demand. The Print Mount HS64 will accept prints up to 66" x 44", and the Print Mount HS100 will accept prints up to 100" x 52". |
