Liège Paper
This paper was originally called "Somerset Liège," as it was an enhanced Somerset paper (Liège now uses a different base). Liège is an extremely bright white, post-coated, acid free, 100% cotton fiber paper. Liège has been very popular in the photographic portfolio market where the artist is seeking a "fine art" look, but also has a need for the widest possible color gamut and image sharpness. This paper is a favorite among photographers who produce portfolios for presenting to art directors. Liège is for the artist who wants to make the best possible "first impression", but is NOT concerned about long term image stability. Henry Wilhelm longevity tests for this sheet are not good. It has been shown to have adverse effects on even the most archival inks. This problem can also become a plus for the artist who wants to make a great looking "leave behind" samples that will fade within a few years, and threfore, will not compete with their more archival, limited edition prints.
