***URGENT PRODUCT BULLETIN***
SUBJECT: Epson Exhibition Canvas with water based protective coatings.
DATE: September 1st 2011
Applying our ECO Print Shield protective coating using the rolling method on the
Epson Exhibition Canvas is not recommended. The ink receptive layer on the Epson Canvas will pull off when this method is used. This appears to be an issue with the
Epson Exhibition product only. We recommend applying the ECO Print Shield using the spray (HVLP spray gun) method only to this product. It is our assumption that this problem will be common with all water based protective coatings when used with the rolling method. *Testing is highly recommended with Epson Exhibition Canvas
Premier Generations Canvas is fully compatible with the ECO Print Shield protective coatings using either the rolling method or spray method.

APPLICATION
Humidity and Temp: For best results the humidity should be between 40%-60% and temperature
between 60f-80f. Lower humidity will cause ECO to dry too fast, causing uneven marks on your print.
High humidity will extend the drying time between each coat, making it more susceptible to dust.
Agitation: Separation is normal with most water based products so it is important to shake completely to
insure solution is evenly dispersed (homogenous) before using. A nylon paint strainer is recommended
as one of the tools needed for preparation of ECO and to insure no skimming on your print.
Dilution: Dilute up to 20% with distilled or filtered water and stir. (Do Not Shake)
This is your working solution, keep separate, do not mix with original container and close after each use.
Application/Rolling: Use high density Streak Free foam rollers or shed resistant short nap rollers for
best results. Apply 1st coat very thin (DO NOT FLOOD) and do not work the coating around in one spot
as this may cause the inks to bleed. For best results use a 2nd roller that is not loaded with ECO to flatten
out any bubbles and to lift any excess ECO off the print. The goal is for an even layer of ECO across
the entire print. Dry time between coats may very from 10-15 minutes, depending on room temperature,
humidity and ventilation. *DO NOT APPLY 2nd COAT UNTIL 1st COAT HAS CLEARED. Look in the
darkest areas of your print to make sure all opaqueness has disappeared. Apply 2nd coat and now you
can work the coating around to achieve an even finish without pulling the inks. Repeat for 3rd coat.
*The two roller method is recommended for best results.
Spraying: Go to www.ECOprintshield.com for detailed instructions.
Clean Up: Use warm water, rinse thoroughly, wipe down and dry all items used.
Stretching: You can stretch your print after 2 hours of drying time. Use smooth, slightly rounded
stretcher bars and do not over-stretch which can cause edge cracking.
***COLD & DRY ENVIRONMENT MAY CAUSE CRACKING WHEN STRETCHING***
Curing: This is different from drying, curing is the time it takes ECO to reach its maximum protective
properties. Before you package your prints or display in a harsh environment reaching a full cure is
important. Curing time will vary from 72 hours and longer, depending on room temperature, humidity, air
flow and ventilation. You can speed up the curing time with low humidity, air flow and ventilation.
CAUTION: Do not allow product to freeze. Keep out of reach children. Harmful or fatal if swallowed. May
cause skin or eye irritation. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist.
Wear an appropriate respirator during application until fumes are gone. Wear eye protection with side
shields to avoid contact with eyes.
FIRST AID: In case of direct eye contact, flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes and seek medical
attention. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately. If affected by vapors or spray mist, move to
clean fresh air. In case of skin contact, wash with soap and warm water.
