Why Archive with the MAM-A Gold?
Use the best CD-R's in the world for your important backups and data archives. Go ahead and use the cheapest CD-R's you can find for sending out files to friends, clients and service bureaus. Cheap CD-R's can become unreadable in a few years or even a few months. But who cares -- they've served their purpose, which was the inexpensive transfer of large digital files. However, when it comes to your important files, use only the best, the MAM-A Gold Standard CD-R!
Independent Review:
SilverAce's dottyspotty does a great review on "Which Brands of CD-R Discs are Best for Long-Term Data and Photo Storage?" Dottyspotty lists the MAM-A Gold and the Kodak Gold Ultima (no longer available) as the best discs for long-term data and photo storage, because of their Phthalocyanine dye and real gold reflective layer. Dottyspotty warns of discs using fake 'gold' color layer, and of manufacturers that move their production facilities from Japan to Taiwan or Mexico, where they lose quality control. (This review was done in May 2001. Funny thing, Kodak had just recently moved its production from Japan to Mexico, and then later discontinued production all together by the end of the year.)
