| MAM-A DVD media
We are happy to carry MAM-A's new 24k gold DVD-R and DVD+R media that has a data longevity rating of 100 years. This is an additional 25 years over the 75-years rating for the silver DVD-R. (Mitsui/MAM-A uses a real silver reflective surface, not aluminum like other manufacturers use.) All three DVDs use a special fade-resistant dye that Mitsui/MAM-A has patented. This dye is NOT the same "Patented Phthalocyanine Dye Technology" that is used in Mitsui/MAM-A's CD-R's.
The stronger Phthalocyanine dye used in their CD-R's will not work for DVD burning (the DVD recording laser can't "burn" through Phthalocyanine dye at the speeds necessary for writing the more densely compacted DVDs). Even so, Mitsui/MAM-A's patented dye for their DVDs is still much more fade-resistant than what the other DVD manufactures are using, which is why their DVDs are rated 75 (silver) and 100 years (gold).
Mitsui/MAM-A will not reveal the name of the dye used in their DVDs, because of their past experience with other manufacturers that have tried to rip-off the "Phthalocyanine" name in their own CD-R advertising. Mitsui/MAM-A feels that if other brands knew the name of the new patented dye that Mitsui/MAM-A uses for their DVD's, other brands would try to use that name, too, in their ads and claims, just like they've done with the Phthalocyanine Dye Technology for CD-R's. Check out MAM-A's product page for more information.
MAM-A's DVD Recordable Discs are highly specialized, write-once DVD-R or DVD+R media for massive data storage and retrieval. MAM's advanced technology and patented organic dye formulation have produced our current single-sided General Purpose 4.7GB disc. All discs are suitable for the creation of a DVD disc in any format (DVD-Video, DVD-ROM, Audio). Stored at room temperature, MAM DVD discs have an expected lifespan is in excess of 75 years.
