MUSEUM QUALITY. Museum Digital Art Paper has the necessities to make it the conservator's paper of choice: 100% cotton fibers that are lignin-free, acid-free and chlorine free; archival buffering to guard against atmospheric acidity during long-term storage; and the absence of optical brighteners that can break down and change color over time (Refer to our "Paper Primer" article). Museum D.A.P. is mould-made to give you the random fiber arrangement obtainable from hand-made papers, yet providing the consistency in caliper that is required for repeatable digital printing.
IMAGE QUALITY. What really separates Museum D.A.P. from the other fine art papers is an inkjet receptive coating that can handle ink, and lots of it --allowing Museum to reach unheard of Maximum Densities. Properly profiled with Epson's UltraChrome pigmented ink (using the Matte Black), Museum can reach a D-Max that was once only obtainable with glossy papers. This extended range boosts color gamut and allows for extraordinary shadow detail and tonal separation. Dye inks also reproduce superbly on Museum.
PORTFOLIO / BOOK QUALITY. Did we mention that Museum Digital Art Paper is dual-sided? It's coated both sides, allowing for photo quality printing on both sides of the sheet! Dual-side coating increases your savings when testing or proofing images, since both sides of the paper can be utilized. Museum is perfect for books, portfolios, and classy direct mail pieces. Because Museum is mould-made, with a random fiber grain orientation (like hand-made papers), you don't have to worry about which direction ("short grain" or "long grain") to fold the sheet as you do with cheap, machine-made papers.
PRODUCTION QUALITY.Museum's inkjet receptive coating is more closely integrated with the paper, helping to eliminate expensive and time-consuming redos caused by the loose and "flakey" coatings on some other fine art papers. Museum's coating is very resilient, making it both scratch and water-resistant.
PRINTER PROFILES: Museum prints quite well in Epson printers using the "Enhanced Matte" media setting (use "Archival Matte" in older printers). Use the "Matte Paper Heavyweight" setting if these are not available. These are starting points. You can also download profiles for certain printers and this paper on our Profiles Page
