Epson 4000 Stand REVEALED!

We did not install the wheels that are supposed to be on the bottom of the stand because it was on its way to a customer - instead we put it on the red cart so we could wheel it around. The right door does open 5-10 degrees (or so) wider than the left side.

Dimension of the stand in inches - the printer is not included, it's just for comparison. You will notice that the waste tank is accessible when you open the cabinet.

You will notice the gap between the printer and the stand. Although it would be nice to have them right up next to each other, the gap serves to keep you from smashing your fingers when you put the printer on the stand, and allows you to easily lift the printer.

The actual body of the stand is welded steel and is shipped fully assembled (except for the aforementioned wheels), this make it more sturdy than a stand that is hooked together with screws. The 4000 printer creates quite a bit of lateral shaking when printing, especially in high speed mode. It looks like the cabinet is rigid enough to avoid "cheap table shake" we saw the first time we used a 4000 on a standard office folding table (we eventually switched to a steel table to fix that). The front doors and the side panels (they cover the steel on the sides) are made out of the same plastic the 4000 printer uses. You should also check out Epson's Brochure on the stand (PDF)
